Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) Knowing the cognitive abilities of students before applying the concept attainment learning model with mind mapping. 2) Knowing the cognitive abilities of students after applying the concept attainment learning model with mind mapping. 3) Knowing the difference in students' cognitive abilities between before and after applying the concept attainment learning model with mind mapping. This research is an experimental research with one group pretest posttest design. The place used in this research is SMP Negeri 6 Nganjuk. The sample used by researchers was class VII-6 with 28 students. The data analysis technique in this study is in the form of statistical data analysis t test. The average value of the pretest is 64.85 which means sufficient, while the value for the average posttest is 76.85 which means good. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the 5% significance level for Db = 28, the t table value = 1.703 and tcount = 9.34, then tcount> ttable which means HO is rejected and Ha is accepted. So that "there is a difference in students' cognitive abilities between before and after the application of the Concept Attainment Learning Model with Mind Mapping.
