Publication Etic
Journal of English Language Education (JoElangEdu)
JoElangEdu is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, and reviewers—are expected to adhere to the following ethical guidelines.
- AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their manuscript is original work. Any text, data, or ideas taken from other sources must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will result in immediate rejection or retraction.
- AI Use and Transparency: Authors must disclose any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the research or writing process. AI-generated content must not exceed 20% of the manuscript, as verified by Turnitin’s AI detection service.
- Multiple Submissions: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time is unethical and prohibited.
- Authorship and Contribution: All listed authors must have made significant intellectual contributions to the work. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
- Data Integrity: Authors should present accurate data and retain original research data for at least five years post-publication for verification if needed.
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the research must be disclosed.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper credit must be given to prior works that have influenced the study.
- EDITORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fair and Unbiased Evaluation: Manuscripts are evaluated solely based on academic merit, without regard to authors’ race, gender, nationality, religion, or institutional affiliation.
- Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than corresponding authors, reviewers, and the publisher.
- Peer Review Integrity: Editors ensure a fair, objective, and timely peer-review process using qualified reviewers.
- Decision Transparency: Editorial decisions are communicated clearly, with reasons provided when manuscripts are rejected.
- Conflict of Interest: Editors will recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have personal or professional conflicts.
- REVIEWER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and not share or discuss them without permission.
- Objectivity and Constructiveness: Reviews should be objective, respectful, and focused on improving the quality of the manuscript.
- Timeliness: Reviewers should complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or promptly notify the editor if unable to do so.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where they have competing interests.
- Source Identification: Reviewers should alert the editor to any relevant published work not cited by the authors.
- AI ETHICS POLICY
JoElangEdu recognizes the growing role of AI in academic writing and research. Authors must:
- Declare the use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GrammarlyGO, etc.) in the cover letter or acknowledgments.
- Ensure AI-generated content does not exceed 20% of the total manuscript.
- Remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all content, including AI-assisted portions.
- Cite AI-generated text, tables, or visuals appropriately.
- PLAGIARISM AND MISCONDUCT HANDLING
- All submissions are screened using Turnitin for plagiarism and AI-generated content.
- Cases of suspected misconduct (fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, etc.) will be investigated following COPE guidelines.
- Sanctions may include rejection, retraction, publication of corrections, and notification of authors’ institutions.
- CORRECTIONS AND RETRACTIONS
JoElangEdu will issue corrections, clarifications, or retractions when errors, ethical violations, or fraudulent data are identified, in line with COPE retraction guidelines.
